Board & credential checks

How to verify a board

Board names, affiliations and certificate procedures can change. Confirm the details for the specific board, school, examination and year directly with the responsible authority.

  1. Identify the board

Note the exact name of the board, the state or territory it operates in, and the examination or certificate concerned.

  2. Check available recognition or membership information

Use the directory on this website for reference information, and check the board's own official website for its current status.

  3. Verify directly with the concerned authority

Confirm recognition, affiliation and certificate authenticity with the board itself or the competent education authority of the state or union territory.

  4. Submit a request where applicable

Where a board or authority offers a formal verification procedure, submit your request through that channel with the required documents.

Important distinction

COBSE directory or membership information is provided as a reference. It is not a substitute for a formal recognition, affiliation or certificate-authenticity decision from the competent government or education authority. Confirm the relevant status directly before relying on it.

If a formal verification process is available, follow the instructions published by the concerned board or authority. Do not share original certificates or sensitive personal information except through its official channel.
